It's nearly that time of year again when glow-sticks and white gloves get ready to rave as the clubbing summer season swings into action.

But for those who like their music minus bleeps and distorted beats, then *Buddha Lounge *is the one for you. Compiled by Shisha Sound System (aka Phil Meadley and DJ Umb), the DJ duo have collated three disks of sublime sounds; from dinner party to party party. The triple CD explores new and old offerings from Koop, Glideascope, Celt Islam Soundsystem, Transglobal Underground, Etnik Senetik, and Kaya Project.

For CD 1, all you need to do is light your joss-sticks, get your 'Om' on and set your temperature to *Buddha Chill *as the laidback strings of the Persian santoor purr over Bahramji's succulent "Crazy Heart". The ethereal emissions of Smadar will have you similarly relaxed, as the Israeli vocalist blends Hebrew, Latino and Arabic idioms over the transcendent instrumentation of "Mama".

Over on disc two and *Buddha Bar *steps up the pace, with Leon Larregui's sensual vocals dripping perfectly over the Mexican musicality of Bn Loco's "Cancion Playera". However, it's *Buddha Club *where you can really shake some skin. It opens with Naked Rhythm's "Sari Sky", where the LA collective fuse a wealth of international influences into five minutes of breathtaking sitar and taut percussive breaks. Further along, Stuttgart trio, Dublex Inc, sample Mirelle Mathieu to produce a stirring, soulful house track.

With a wealth of music drawing inspiration from India, Morocco, Mexico and beyond, this is the perfect soundtrack to the summer and an ideal introduction to those wishing to explore the more adventurous side of dance music.
